Reviews and examples
What makes the B Celtic Double Ding so special? It’s one of the first steel drums that was designed by RAV Vast and is the first experimental steel tongue drums that has two notes in the same area.
The Double Ding scale belongs to Celtic music culture, so the melodies played with this steel tongue drum has this specific Irish flavour. It can remind you of the ancient times, the songs about the feats of King Arthur and the love story of Tristan and Isolde.
The B Celtic Double Ding is a pentatonic based scale. What is it so unique about the pentatonic tuned musical instruments that make people love them? It’s all about the repeating harmonies – the same notes are tuned in stacked octaves. The B Celtic Double Ding provides you with the notes of 3 octaves (2nd, 3rd and 4th) for all your music experiments. Although the scale is called the B Celtic Double Ding, its Ding is tuned in A2, while B is the bottom note and the focal point of this scale. Instead of just having another note (like in other scales) the B Celtic Double Ding has a lower version of the A-note that is already present in this scale. The lower note allows you to add dynamics to your playing. You can add more percussion using the area above the tongue. You can choose between the happy A tuning and the more serious and mystical B tuning. An opportunity to change the key provides you a greater variety of songs you can play. If you want to play in the B minor key, exclude the Ding. If you want to switch to A major, avoid tapping two bottom notes - B2 and F#3 (check out the online music sample for this technique).
This scale has no halftones. And the absence of halftones on this scale means it sounds very harmonious no matter which direction of the melody you choose. There is a lot of sympathetic resonance and all the notes are consonant.

For whom this scale will work
The B Celtic Double Ding is the scale that will work literally for anyone. It will be a perfect starting point for newbies. If you want to get the instrument that will teach you how to play, the one that will be able to provide you more and more options to learn while you are evolving as a musician, there’s no drum better from all the drums available for sale.
The B Celtic Double Ding will also give a lot to seasoned players. It’s a great scale for people who tend to improvise a lot as this scale has a good variety of chords available to it. Like a bigger number of markers in the box provide more colors to your art, the additional note gives you more room to perform anything you want from simple rhythms to integral music compositions.
An opportunity to change the key from major to minor forces you to get to know the scale in a different capacity unlike the scale with a fixed key. As the B Celtic Double Ding is a pentatonic-based scale, you’ll be able to find the common ground with a guitar or piano player (especially if they are familiar with the pentatonic scale which is kind of a blues scale).
This scale also pairs well with a bulk of other RAV drums like D Major, B Celtic Minor, B Kurd, B RUS and also sounds good with E Low Pygmy.
