Description
Sonorous like the spring drops of melting icicle, the D Celtic takes you deeper with a hidden path to the secret druid forest. It’s tuned in a minor scale and has an incredibly soothing and relaxing sound. If you are looking for a tool to practice sound therapy, there’s no instrument better than the D Celtic Minor RAV Vast. The voice of this scale is really spellbinding and can hypnotize anyone who is hearing it.
The D Celtic is also the right choice if you are eager to find your first tongue drum. This is a beginner-friendly scale that will let you create perfect melodies. The seasoned musicians will get an opportunity to compose soothing and enchanting melodies and make the best accompaniment for meditation using the D Celtic Minor RAV Vast. The sound of the D Celtic Minor is very relaxing and makes you feel very enlightened while listening to it. Unlike many minor scales, it brings tranquillity without the feeling of melancholy. Thus, it’s a very positive scale. D minor (and its variations) is a widely popular scale for the hand drum and steelpans and the D Celtic Minor RAV Vast is no exception. More likely, the first handpan or tongue drum you heard online or offline was tuned in D minor. Now you’ve got the chance to get the sound that once had captivated you.
The sound of the D Celtic can remind you of the windchimes or singing bowl. These bowls are usual accompaniments for meditation and sound-healing, so the D Celtic is perfect for this purpose as well. It’s a chakra-tuned drum that means that each note of the drum harmonises with the inner vibrations of the chakras in your body and that’s what makes it a perfect instrument for energy balancing.
The steel tongues made of special steel are tuned in 3rd, 4th and 5th octave. The Ding is tuned in D3. The D Celtic is based on the D minor scale with the omitted 6th note. There are multiple classic chords that can be played with the D Celtic Minor: F major, С major, A minor, D Dorian, F Lydian.
It only creates the semitone difference between E4 and F4, being one of the most harmonious scales, and one of the easiest to deal with.
The D Celtic Minor has various relative scales in the RAV Vast drum collection. First, it’s, of course, the B Celtic Minor. At first glance, these two drums can seem to be literally twins. However, each one has its own individuality. The D Celtic has a higher (and lighter) voice than the relative B Celtic scale. It’s also more sonorous and has a more “airy” feel to it.
The D Celtic has its twin in the RAV Pan collection. Just like its Vast brother, the D Celtic RAV Pan is melodious, bright and provides a sense of hope. It is also one of the easiest scales to handle and will be a good choice if you start learning Pan. If you have a plan to acquire the handpan, you can first practice with the D Celtic RAV Vast and then switch to the new musical instrument tuned up in the familiar scale. Moreover, these two drums create an amazing duet, so you can experiment with simultaneous playing.
For whom this scale will work
The D Celtic is a good choice for an inexperienced musician who wants to have an instrument to practice meditation and improvisation while delving into the relaxing sound of the tongue drum.
In short words, are you a newbie (even without any real music theory understanding)? Do you like soft and relaxing melodies that still are not too moody? Are you desiring to get a versatile scale that you will have many melodies to come up with? If you tend to answer yes to these questions, then the D Celtic is your perfect choice. This is a very versatile scale that will be really easy to learn. It sounds great together with flutes and a good number of other tongue drums (D Celtic Minor, E Low Pygmy, A Integral) and handpans (D Celtic). Just like other Celtic scales, this one is pretty easy to get used to it, however, it has its own unique voice that provides this ethereal sound.

I've been a professional musician for over 20 years (bassist) and I cannot underestimate how fun this drum is to play! Within moments of picking it up I was improvising grooves, melodies and just having a blast. After being seating on the floor and playing it for 20 minutes I stood up and could feel the tones of the drum resonating in my body. It's a meditative experience to practice this instrument and if you sit with it on the floor, it's a great hip opener too! It's a beautiful piece of art and craftsmanship that just so happens to make gorgeous sounds. Buy one already!

My RAV Celtic Minor arrived yesterday. I am so pleased about the super service, beginning from the order and the communication with the rav team. The instrument was super well packed, and arrived within 5 days. It is really more than beautiful & the sound and sustain is way above my expectations- thank you, I am super happy.

I'm really happy with the D Celtic Minor and would definitely recommend this scale to anyone considering it. I picked this scale because others advised that the Celtic scales are good for beginners, and after listening to countless videos of the different scales, this is the one that stood out to me the most. I enjoy the bright sound of this scale and it has been intuitive as someone with no percussive experience and very little knowledge of music theory in general. After a few hours of playing, it already sounded great fr om some basic improvisation.
I consider the price of the RAV Vast to be a steal. I stumbled upon the RAV Vast when I was originally looking at the handpan but turned off by its price. Despite being a fraction of the cost, the RAV Vast has an extremely rich sound that in my opinion is just as good as a handpan (just different). It is leagues ahead of any other tongue drums that I've heard. I ordered the RAV Vast with DHL shipping (which was on sale at the time of purchase) and it only took 9 days to arrive. It arrived in perfect condition with no issues. Customer support has been very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the D Celtic Minor scale and the RAV Vast in general to anyone who is remotely interested. If you are at the point wh ere you're reading reviews, I can guarantee that you're going to buy one. |

I am really happy with my D Celtic Minor-
Playing the hand pan too, I must say the Vast is even more mystic, with an amazing long sustain. A wonderful, beautiful looking instrument. |

This my second RAV drum, once again I'm impressed! My first RAV was the RAV B RUS which is not compatible with the D Celtic minor. However both drums are totally different, with different vibes & styles which will be relevant when playing a show or song writing. I do enjoy D Celtic, but for me personally I find it a bit tricky to use. From my experience its really center note driven, but that's probably just my style. I definitely feel that this RAV would really shine paired another RAV (compliment scale of course).
The melodies are distinct and enchanting, but I have a lot to learn and grow. But time is my greatest weapon. My RAV B RUS, the melody just flows for me, any position I can improv something instantly. I would recommend D Celtic minor, I think its worth it. Overall RAV's service and quality are 10/10. Honestly I don't think RAV can make a bad product. Also buy the rope braids, they protect the rim & look really cool at the same time. |
